Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a rotation detector that can detect a rotation angle with accuracy even when an abnormality occurs in magnetic element units. [Solution] A rotation detector 1 is provided with a magnetism detecting unit 20 that detects magnetism generated by a magnet 10, and a calculating unit 50 that calculates a rotation angle of a rotating body on the basis of detection signals Sa outputted by the magnetism detecting unit 20. The magnetism detecting unit 20 has n magnetic element units 30, where n is 3 or more, and outputs, for the respective n magnetic element units 30, the detection signals Sa of different phases. The calculating unit 50 calculates the respective detection angles from the n types of detection signals Sa. When the calculated n types of detection angels include an abnormality detection angle which is a value different from the other detection angles by a degree exceeding an allowable range, the calculating unit 50 excludes, from the n types of detection signals Sa, an abnormality detection signal from which the abnormality detection angle is calculated, and calculates a rotation angle.
