Abstract:
A rotation transmission device wherein torque cams (40) are provided between the opposing surfaces of a flange (21) of a control retainer (16A) and a flange (25) of a rotation retainer (16B), and the torque cams convert axial movement of the control retainer (16A) into relative rotational movement of both of the retainers (16A, 16B). The torque cams (40) are provided offset in the circumferential direction with respect to a post section (22) of the control retainer (16A) and a post section (26) of the rotation retainer (16B), and for a pair of cam grooves (41, 42) forming the torque cams (40), only those regions of the cam grooves that make contact with balls (43) are heat treated to increase their hardness and improve durability.
