Abstract:

A route display device (200) has an extraction section (201) for extracting pieces of waypoint information on cities on a guiding route up to a destination point; a display section (202) having a display screen for displaying the guiding route; and a display control section (203) for controlling the display screen and displaying an approximate route constructed from the pieces of waypoint information on cities extracted by the extraction section (201) and from single line segments connecting between the pieces of waypoint information according to the guiding route. By this, what kinds of cities the guiding route goes through can be transmitted in a visually efficient way, and as a result the outline of the guiding route can be easily understood.
