A routing method for a home network, and an access device and a medium, which relate to the technical field of communications, and are used for realizing IPv6 communication in a home network even when a global IPv6 address (IANA) cannot be acquired. When an access device cannot acquire a prefix from an upper-level access device or an acquired prefix does not meet the requirement for allocating an address to a lower-level access device, a route conversion policy or a transparent transmission policy is created. The route conversion policy enables the lower-level access device to perform IPv6 communication by using the IANA of the current access device. The transparent transmission policy enables the lower-level access device to be regarded as a device mounted beneath the upper-level access device. Therefore, the lower-level access device can directly communicate with the upper-level access device to acquire the IANA. It is not necessary to modify any setting of the upper-level access device and a BRAS, and it is also not necessary to increase the allocation capability of the BARS, that is, it is not necessary to perform update and deployment in operation, and there is no perception on a user equipment side.
