Abstract:
Provided are a rubber composition that can improve fuel efficiency and wet grip performance in a well-balanced manner, and a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition in various members (particularly the tread) of the tire. This rubber composition contains: a rubber component containing a copolymer that is obtained by copolymerizing 1,3-butadiene, styrene, and a compound represented by formula (I), the copolymer having an amino group at one end and having, at the other end, a functional group containing at least one type of atom selected from the group consisting of nitrogen, oxygen, and silicon, the copolymer having a weight-average molecular weight of 1.0×105 to 2.5×106; silica; and a liquid resin having a softening point in the range of -20 to 20°C. (In the formula, R1 represents a hydrocarbon group having a carbon number of 1 to 10.)
