Abstract:
Provided are: a rubber composition that is for a tire rim cushion or rubber finishing and that has excellent low heat generation properties and ozone resistance when configured as a tire; and a pneumatic tire that uses the rubber composition. The rubber composition for a tire rim cushion or rubber finishing comprises a diene rubber and a filler that comprises a carbon black. The diene rubber comprises: natural rubber and/or an isoprene rubber; and a modified polymer that is obtained by reacting a nitrone compound with a double bond of a conjugated diene polymer. The content of natural rubber and/or isoprene rubber in the diene rubber is 30-60 mass%, the content of the modified polymer in the diene rubber is 8-70 mass%, the content of the filler is 60-80 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the diene rubber, and the nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of the carbon black is 60-150 m2/g.
