Abstract:
A rubber composition for tires is provided with which both on-snow performance and dry gripping performance are attained. The rubber composition is obtained by incorporating 10-50 parts by mass of a thermoplastic resin into 100 parts by mass of a diene-based rubber comprising 60 mass% or more styrene/butadiene rubber, the styrene/butadiene rubber having a styrene content of 5-30 mass% and a vinyl content of 10-35 mass%. In a mixture obtained by mixing the diene-based rubber with the thermoplastic resin in a mass ratio of 1:1, the difference (Tga-Tgm) between a theoretical glass transition temperature (Tga) of the mixture, which is calculated from the average glass transition temperature (Tg1) of the diene-based rubber and the glass transition temperature (Tg2) of the thermoplastic resin, and a measured glass transition temperature (Tgm) of the mixture is less than 5°C and the difference (Tg2-Tg1) between the average glass transition temperature (Tg1) and the glass transition temperature (Tg2) of the thermoplastic resin is 50-105°C. The thermoplastic resin is contained in an amount of 30 mass% or larger with respect to the sum of all the plasticizer ingredients, which is taken as 100 mass%, contained in the rubber composition.
