Title:
RUBBER-MODIFIED STYRENIC RESIN COMPOSITION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1996/024633
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A rubber-modified styrenic resin composition prepared by dissolving a rubbery polymer in a styrenic monomer and subjecting the obtained solution to graft polymerization, characterized in that: (1) the rubbery polymer is dispersed in the styrenic polymer matrix in the form of particles having a volume-mean particle diameter ranging from 0.5 to 1.6 'mu'm, (2) the dispersed particles of the rubbery polymer have a salami-like structure wherein a portion of the styrenic polymer is dispersed and included in the particles in a particulate state having a number-mean particle diameter of 0.13 to 0.20 'mu'm and a particle size distribution of 1.15 to 1.35, and (3) the swell ratio of the dispersed particles of the rubbery polymer in toluene lies within a range of 7 to 12. This composition is excellent in mechanical strengths, gloss and colorability and is well-balanced among these characteristics.
