Abstract:
The present invention achieves both exhaust gas cleaning performance and engine performance in an engine unit provided with dedicated reed valves (84) and dedicated secondary air supply channel parts (87) farther downstream of the dedicated reed valves. The engine unit (11) of a saddle-type vehicle (1) has an upstream secondary air supply channel part (88a), a secondary air supply valve (83), downstream secondary air supply channel parts (88b), the dedicated reed valves (84), the dedicated secondary air supply channel parts (87) downstream of the dedicated reed valves, dedicated exhaust channel parts (66), and a device (70) for detecting the state of gas other than in the dedicated secondary air supply channel parts, the device (70) detecting an indicator that shows the state of the gas in a channel part other than the dedicated secondary air supply channel parts (87) downstream of the dedicated reed valves. When an engine body (20) is being operated in a cold state, a secondary air supply control unit (91) controls the operation so that the secondary air supply valve (83) is open. In such a case, a detection unit (96) is capable of detecting blockage in the dedicated secondary air supply channel parts (87) downstream of the dedicated reed valves on the basis of a signal from the device (70) for detecting the state of gas other than in the dedicated secondary air supply channel parts.
