Abstract:

　Provided is a saddled vehicle that can immediately apply engine braking in accordance with a request from a driver during an automatic gearshift even while the vehicle is traveling, and that can render unnecessary a separate designated operating means and a separate special operation for applying engine braking. A saddled vehicle provided with a handlebar (H), a first brake means (2) and a second brake means (3) for performing a braking operation, a slope detection means for detecting the slope of the road when the vehicle is traveling, and a deceleration rate adjustment means capable of automatically adjusting the deceleration rate of the vehicle in accordance with the slope of the road detected by the slope detection means, the vehicle being capable of traveling when a driver steers using the handlebar (H) while sitting in a seat, wherein a driver request assessment means (6) is provided which is capable of assessing the deceleration rate of the vehicle as requested by the driver in accordance with the slope of the road and the operating conditions of the first brake means (2) and the second brake means (3), and the vehicle can be controlled on the basis of the deceleration rate assessed by the driver request assessment means (6).
