Abstract:

A safety device for an elevator, wherein a light projecting/receiving unit (4) is mounted in a downwardly directed position to a car door (2) of a pair of car doors (2, 3) so as to be located at the upper end on a line extending vertically at a position away a predetermined distance to the other door (3) side from an end surface (2a) with respect to the closing direction, said end surface (2a) being adapted to make contact with the other car door (3), and wherein a first reflecting member (5) is mounted in an upwardly directed position to the lower end on the line. A space for housing the light projecting/receiving unit (4) with both the car doors (2, 3) closed is formed in the other car door (3). A second light reflecting member (6) is mounted in an upwardly directed position to the bottom of the space. The second light reflecting member (6) extends inward of the space from the same position as an end surface (3a), with respect to the closing direction, of the other car door (3).
