Abstract:
A safety device for a machining system (1100) that can be reconfigured to be provided with a tool module (500-1, 500-2, 500-3) and a table module (600-1, 600-2, 600-3), which are detachably joined to each other, the safety device comprising: one or a plurality of area sensors (598) provided to each of the tool module and the table module, the one or plurality of area sensors (598) contactlessly detecting that an object is present within a prescribed range surrounding the tool module and the table module; and a safety control device (1310, 1326, 1336, 1344, 1354) that, in accordance with the state of the machining system configured by the tool module and the table module are joined and with the operation mode of each of the modules, individually assesses whether each area sensor is available or unavailable and sets a safety area within which the presence of the object in the prescribed range surrounding the machining system thus configured can be detected.
