A joint split ring (2) is attached centrally to the circular.(5) guard member 1. The two ends of said joint ring are parallel left (3) and right (4) toe-shaped and have coaxial openings (5). In the coaxial openings, a shaped nut (7) is screwed on an adjusting bolt (6). On the carrier axes (8) on the two sides of said nut, there is a fork-shaped cam lever (9) in a bearing. Between said lever (9) and the lower end (4) of said joint ring there is a locking plate (10). At the hinged end of said fork-(6) shaped cam lever (9), a cam surface 11 has been shaped. There is a cut flat sector (13) in the middle section of said cam surface between the right joint end 4 and carrier hinge (12) in closed position of fork-shaped cam lever (9). The flat sector is in contact with said locking plate (10). On the plate there is a retaining tooth 14 whose plane is parallel with the axis of said adjusting bolt (6) and is in contact with the outline of (7) shaped nut (7). A limiting tooth (16) is located perpendicularly to the plane of said retaining tooth (14) and is bent in the opposite direction.

Description:
SAFETY GUARD FOR ANGLE GRINDERS SCOPE OF APPLICATION The preferred embodiment relates to a safety guard for angle grinders, especially portable angle grinders used in machine engineering, building and as household tools.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION A safety guard for an angle grinder, whose construction is described in DE 36 38 337 C 2, is known. The construction comprises a circular guard member with a flange at the far edge. A joint ring with a locking tooth projecting from its inner side is attached centrally to the circular guard member. The two ends of said joint ring are parallel toe-shaped with holes in them. In said holes there is a tension adjusting bolt whose unthreaded end is eye-shaped. Riveted to it is a fork-shaped cam lever, which has a fI-shaped section. Between the fork-shaped lever and said joint ring toe there is a sheave. An adjusting nut is located on said tension adjusting bolt.

One disadvantage of that angle grinder guard is its complicated construction comprising a tension adjusting bolt with a complicated configuration and elongated non-standard nut. Another disadvantage is that in closed position the end of said fork-shaped lever is far from said joint ring. Sometimes, during operation, this prevents the utilization of the cutting or grinding disk.

The object of the preferred embodiment is to make an angle grinder guard, which has a simpler construction and allows for optimal use of cutting or grinding disks in operation.

DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION The guard of the angle grinder includes a circular guard member with a flange at the far edge. A joint split ring is attached centrally to the circular guard member. The two ends of said joint ring are parallel left and right toe-shaped and have coaxial holes. According to the invention, in the coaxial holes a shaped nut is screwed on an adjusting bolt. On the carrier axes on the two sides of said nut, there is a fork-shaped cam lever in a bearing. Between said lever and the right hand of said joint ring end there is a locking plate. At the hinged end of said fork-shaped cam lever, a cam surface has been shaped. There is a cut flat sector in the middle section of said cam surface between the right joint end and carrier hinge in closed position of fork-shaped cam lever. The flat sector is in contact with said locking plate. On the plate there is a retaining tooth whose plane is parallel with the axis of said adjusting bolt and is in contact with the outline of shaped nut. A limiting tooth is located perpendicularly to the plane of said retaining tooth and is bent in the opposite direction.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Fig. 1 is a general view of the guard for angle grinders.

Fig. 2 is a view of the profiled nut 7 of Fig. 1.

Fig. 3 is a view of the fork-shaped cam lever 11 of Fig. 1.

Fig. 4 is a view of the locking plate 10 of Fig. 1.

DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION As is shown in the figures, the guard of the angle grinder includes a circular guard member 1 with a flange (not shown) at the far edge. A joint split ring 2 is attached centrally to the circular guard member 1. The two ends of said joint ring are parallel left 3 and right 4 toe-shaped and have coaxial openings 5. In the coaxial openings, a shaped nut 7 is screwed on an adjusting bolt 6. On the carrier axes 8 on the two sides of said nut, there is a fork-shaped cam lever 9 in a bearing.

Between said lever 9 and the right hand end 4 of said joint ring there is a locking plate 10. At the hinged end of said fork-shaped cam lever 9, a cam surface 11 has been shaped. There is a cut flat sector 13 in the middle section of said cam surface between the right joint end 4 and carrier hinge 12 in closed position of fork-shaped cam lever 9. The flat sector is in contact with said locking plate 10. On the plate there is a retaining tooth 14 whose plane is parallel with the axis of said adjusting bolt 6 and is in contact with the outline of shaped nut 7. A limiting tooth 16 is located perpendicularly to the plane of said retaining tooth 14 and is bent in the opposite direction.

APPLICATION The guard for angle grinders is used in the following way. The fork-shaped cam lever 9 is so turned that it gets farther from joint split ring 2. Because of resilient forces, the diameter of the ring increases and the guard can easily be put and turned in the required position on the attachment flange that is made on the head of the angle grinder. Then by turning fork-shaped cam lever 9 backwards into locked position the guard is tightened due to cam surface 11. If necessary, the tightening force can be increased by tightening adjusting bolt 6. The cut flat sector 13 on cam surface 11 prevents said guard for angle grinders from unlocking.
