Abstract:
A sample collection apparatus, comprising: a mouthpiece (101, 301), wherein the mouthpiece (101, 301) is configured to engage with at least a portion of the mouth of a subject; a length-adjustable component (102, 302), wherein a first end of the length-adjustable component (102, 302) is coupled to the mouthpiece (101, 301), and the length-adjustable component (102, 302) has a first state and a second state, wherein in the first state, the length-adjustable component (102, 302) has a first length along the longitudinal axis thereof, and in the second state, the length-adjustable component (102, 302) has a second length along the longitudinal axis, with the second length greater than the first length; and a sampling head (103, 303), wherein the sampling head (103, 303) is coupled to a second end, substantially opposite to the first end along the longitudinal axis, of the length-adjustable component (102, 302), and the sampling head (103, 303) is configured, when the length-adjustable component (102, 302) is in the second state, to contact a collection site in the subject and collect a biological sample from the collection site.
