Provided is a sash window which has a simple configuration, can be opened and closed easily, and has excellent air-tightness. A sash window is provided with: a frame body provided along the edges of an opening in a building and having an upper frame member, a lower frame member, and left and right vertical frame members; a stationary paper screen provided to the upper part inside the frame body; and a movable paper screen provided so as to be movable in the vertical direction. Balancers are disposed within the upper frame member or the left and right vertical frame members. The vertical frame members are provided with guide grooves having rectilinear sections and sloped sections. The rectilinear sections are provided along the longitudinal direction of the vertical frame members. The sloped sections communicate with ends of the rectilinear sections, the ends being located on the lower frame member side, and obliquely extend to the side of the lower frame member on which the stationary paper screen is provided. The movable paper screen has support members which are affixed to the movable paper screen so as to protrude therefrom and which are configured so that the protruding portions can move in the guide grooves. Wires of the balancers are engaged with the support members. When at a closed position, the movable paper screen is disposed next to each other below the stationary paper screen so as to be located in the same plane as the stationary paper screen.
