A scanner device (1) comprises: an image read unit (2); an arm section (3) that extends upwards from one end section of the main scanning direction for the image read unit (2) and in a direction orthogonal to the main scanning direction, when the main scanning direction is set substantially horizontal to the installation surface; a panel section (4) connected to the image read unit (2) and facing surfaces (an upper surface section (2d) and a left side surface (3a)) of the arm section (3); and a connector (5) electrically connected to a mobile terminal (10). The upper surface section (2d) of the image read unit (2), the left side surface (3a) of the arm section (3), and the panel section (4) form a mounting section (6) capable of mounting the mobile terminal (10), and the connector (5) electrically connects to the mobile terminal (10) mounted in the mounting section (6). As a result of this configuration, the scanner device (1) is always integrally configured with the mobile terminal (10) when connected so as to be able to communicate with the mobile terminal (10) and, therefore, a surface screen (10a) of the mobile terminal (10) can substitute as the operation screen for the scanner device (1). As a result, the scanner device (1) can communicate directly with the mobile terminal (10) and can be more compact.
