A scanning antenna has: a first dielectric substrate (51); a TFT substrate (104) having a plurality of TFTs, a plurality of gate bus lines, a plurality of source bus lines, and a plurality of patch electrodes; a second dielectric substrate (1); a slot substrate (204) having a slot electrode (55) formed on a first principal surface of the second dielectric substrate; a liquid crystal layer provided between the TFT substrate and the slot substrate; and a reflecting conductive plate positioned so as to face, across a dielectric layer, the second principal surface on the opposite side of the first principal surface of the second dielectric substrate (1). The slot electrode (55) has a plurality of slots (57) positioned correspondingly with respect to the plurality of patch electrodes, and grooves (84) for segmenting the slot electrode (55) into two or more portions (55S). The TFT substrate (104) has an opposing metal part (91) positioned to face the grooves (84), and the grooves (84) are covered by the opposing metal part (91) across the width direction thereof when viewed from the direction of a normal to the first dielectric substrate (51)
