SCISSORS-SHAPED CHOPPER

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Field of the Invention

The present invention is related to a scissors-shaped chopper adapted to shear frozen meat, and more particularly to a scissors-shaped chopper having a blade, which is downwards and forwardly moved to shear frozen meat efficiently and easily.

Description of the Prior Art Referring to Fig. 2, there is shown, a conventional scissors-shaped chopper. As shown in the drawing, the scissors-shaped chopper comprises a chopping board 1 ' having a edge 1a functioning a blade edge at a side thereof, a hinge 3' fixed to an end of the side of the chopping board 1' and a blade 2' pivotally mounted to the hinge 3' at its end.

In operation, frozen meat 9' is disposed on the chopping board 1' between the chopping board 1' and the blade 2'. A handle (not shown) coupled to the other end of the blade 2' is pushed by the user so that the blade 2' is lowered vertically, that is, in arrow direction 10'. Therefore, the edge of the blade is crossed with the edge 1a of the chopping board 1' to shear the frozen meat 9' into a certain size. However, since the blade 2' is crossed with the edge 1a only in vertical direction, the frozen meat 9' is pressed rather than sheared. Accordingly, tough articles and solid frozen meat are hard to be sheared by only such compressive force. Furthermore, when an usual cleaver is used to shear such articles, the articles is also hard to be sheared even though the cleaver is forcedly downwards pressed against the articles by both hands of the user.

In order to overcome the above problem, an automatic cutter such as an electric power saw has been developed in recent. However, when articles to be sheared are small in size or soft, the electric power saw also can not efficiently cut the articles.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the problems occurring in the above known scissors-shaped chopper and an object of .the invention is to provide a scissors-shaped chopper having a blade, which is downwards and forward!y moved by its associated connecting arm, thereby enabl ng frozen meat to be sheared efficiently. In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a scissors-shaped chopper comprising: a chopping board having an edge at its side on which articles to be sheared is put; a support member mounted on a front end of the side of the chopping board which has a pivot shaft at its upper end, the pivot shaft having a thread at its free end; a connecting arm having a pivot hole at its upper end which is pivotally mounted to the support member by inserting the support member into the pivot hole and then engaging the thread of pivot shaft with a nut; and a blade secured to the lower end of the connecting arm at a right angle relative to the connecting arm which has a handle at its rear end, whereby the blade is moved forward!y and downwards and crossed with the edge of the chopping board as the handle is pushed downwards by the user.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

These and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent upon a reading of the following detailed specification and drawings, in which:

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a scissors-shaped

chopper according to the present invention; and

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of prior scissors-shaped chopper according to the ivention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

A scissors-shaped chopper according to the present invention will now be described by referring to Fig. 2 in the accompanying drawings. The scissors-shaped chopper of the present invention includes a chopping board 1 having an edge 5a at its a side. A vertical support member 6 is mounted on the chopping board 5 at a front end (a right end in the drawing) of the side. A pivot shaft 7 is fixed to an upper end of the vertical support member 6 and is threaded at its free end.

A connecting arm 3 is formed with a pivot hole 4 at its upper end. The connecting arm 3 is pivotally mounted to the vertical support member 6 in such a manner that the pivot shaft 7 is inserted into the pivot hole 4 and then engaged with a nut 8 at its threaded end. Therefore, the connecting arm 3 can be freely pivoted about the pivot shaft 7.

A blade 2 having a handle 1 at its rear end is secured to the lower end of the connecting arm 3 at a right angle relative to the connecting arm 3. Operation of the scissors-shaped chopper of the invention as constructed above will be described in detail hereinafter.

Upon pushing the handle 1 downwards, the blade 2 is moved in arrow direction 10, that is, the blade 2 is forwardly slid on the frozen meat 9 and lowered transversely relative to the edge 5a of the chopping board 5 due to pivoting movement of the connecting arm 3. Accordingly, unlike the blade of conventional chopper shown in Fig. 1 which is only downwards moved, the scissors-shaped chopper of the invention can efficiently and easily shear the frozen meat 9.

As apparent from the above description, since the

scissors-shaped chopper of the present invention has a blade moving forwardly and downwards, it is possible to shear frozen meat efficiently and easily.

Changes in construction will occur to those skilled in the art and various apparently different modif cations and embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the invention. The matter set forth in the foregoing description and accompanying drawings is offered by way of illustration only. It is therefore intended that the foregoing description be regarded as illustrative rather than limiting.
