Abstract:
The sealing property of a seal structure used in an internal combustion engine is improved. The seal structure is provided with an annular mating surface seal (40). The mating surface seal (40) has self-tensioning force that acts in a diameter-expanding direction. An annular groove (28G) that opens toward a first piston member (24) is formed in a second piston member (28). The mating surface seal (40) is configured so that a part thereof is accommodated within the annular groove (28G) and the part comes into contact with a wall surface of the annular groove (28G) due to the self-tensioning force. Due to the self-tensioning force of the mating surface seal (40), an outer inclined surface (40S5) of the mating surface seal (40) and an outer inclined surface (28S2) of the annular groove (28G) come into contact. The outer inclined surface (40S5) of the mating surface seal (40) and the outer inclined surface (28S2) of the annular groove (28G) extend at an incline relative to the axial direction of the rotation of the first piston member (24) and the second piston member (28), so as to become progressively closer to the first piston member (24) towards the outer side in the radial direction.
