Abstract:

This actuator (10) has: a displacement unit (20) having a sealed fluid pouch (50) and a plurality of compression cells (40); and a controller (30). Each compression cell (40) has a moveable element, and a magnetic force generating unit for attracting the moveable element. The controller (30) produces a plurality of excitation patterns involving different numbers of excited compression cells (40). The sealed fluid pouch produces changing output distension portions of localized distension according to the excitation pattern. By changing the excitation pattern, the actuator generates a plurality of displacement vectors mutually intersecting the output distension portions.
