Abstract:
One purpose of the present invention is to provide a sealing agent for liquid crystal display elements, the sealing agent being excellent in terms of visible light curability and low possibility of liquid crystal contamination. Another purpose of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal display element which is obtained with use of the above-described sealing agent for liquid crystal display elements. The present invention provides a sealing agent for liquid crystal display elements, the sealing agent containing a curable resin, a photopolymerization initiator and a sensitizer, wherein: the photopolymerization initiator contains camphorquinone; and with respect to a solution obtained by dissolving the sensitizer into acetonitrile so that the concentration thereof is 20 mg/L, if the maximum value of the absorbance within the wavelength range of 300 nm to 550 nm is taken as 1 in a light absorption spectrum measurement of the solution, the absorbance at the wavelength of 400 nm is 0.1 or more.
