Abstract:
This secondary battery comprises: an exterior member; a battery element that is stored inside the exterior member, and that includes a positive electrode and a negative electrode which are wound while opposing each other; and an insulation member provided to the positive electrode. The positive electrode includes a positive electrode collector and a positive electrode active substance layer provided on the positive electrode collector. The negative electrode includes a negative electrode collector and a negative electrode active substance layer provided on the negative electrode collector on the side opposing the positive electrode active substance layer. The positive electrode includes an exposed part in which the positive electrode active substance layer is not provided so that the positive electrode collector is exposed. The exposed part opposes the negative electrode active substance layer, and the insulation member covers at least the exposed part. The positive electrode has a first direction, in which the positive electrode active substance layer is provided intermittently through the exposed part on the positive electrode collector, and also has a second direction that intersects the first direction. In the second direction, the negative electrode protrudes further toward both sides than the positive electrode, and in the second direction, the insulation member also protrudes further toward both sides than the positive electrode. The dimension of the positive electrode in the second direction, the dimension of the negative electrode in the second direction, the dimension by which the insulation member protrudes further than the positive electrode toward one side among the two sides in the second direction, and the dimension by which the insulation member protrudes further than the positive electrode toward the other side among the two sides in the second direction satisfy the relationship shown in equation (1) below. (1): 0.50≦(W3+W4)/(W2-W1)≦3.00 (where: W1 is the dimension of the positive electrode in the second direction; W2 is the dimension of the negative electrode in the second dimension; W3 is the dimension by which the insulation member protrudes further than the positive electrode toward the one side among the two sides in the second direction; and W4 is the dimension by which the insulation member protrudes further than the positive electrode toward the other side among the two sides in the second direction.)
