A security inspection system and method. The security inspection system comprises: a radiation imaging device (10), which has a plurality of target points that are respectively configured to realize scan imaging of different angles of a scan range; a sensor (20), which is configured to sense a motion position of a vehicle (40); and a controller (30), which is in signal connection with the radiation imaging device (10) and the sensor (20), and is configured to enable, when the sensor (20) senses that the vehicle (40) moves to a first region, a first number of target points to emit a beam of rays, and to enable, when the vehicle (40) moves to a second region, a second number of target points to emit a beam of rays. The first region comprises a region which is from a first position before the vehicle (40) enters the scan range by a preset distance to a second position where a person (50) in the vehicle (40) crosses the scan range; the first number is a natural number less than the total number of the plurality of target points; the second region comprises a region from the second position to a third position where the vehicle (40) leaves the scan range by the pre-set distance; and the second number is a positive integer greater than the first number and not less than the total number of the plurality of target points.
