A self-resetting short-circuit fault indicator, consisting of an iron core, a spring, a tripping piece (13), a lock catch, an indication rod and a housing (6); the iron core consists of pincerlike iron cores (3), a fixed iron core (9), a connecting iron core (7) and a movable iron core (8); the indication rod is comprised of an indication rod rotating shaft (16), an indication rod connecting puller (15) and an indication rod body (14); the lock catch is comprised of a lock catch rotating shaft (18), a lock catch hook (19) and a counterweight (17); the conducting wire (1) of a power transmission line is clamped between the two pincerlike iron cores (3) of the indicator. When a short-circuit fault occurs, the indication rod body (14) drops away from the housing (6) to indicate a fault; and when the line returns to normal operation, the indication rod body (14) automatically returns. The indicator has low cost and a long service life, is completely mechanical without the need of a circuit or a battery, and is easy, convenient and quick to install and operate.
