Abstract:
The present invention pertains to a semiconductor light-emitting element or the like provided with a structure for suppressing a reduction in the quality of an optical image arising as a result of an electrode blocking a portion of light output from a phase modulation layer. The semiconductor light-emitting element includes: a basic layer; and a phase modulation layer having a plurality of different refractive index regions, wherein the phase modulation layer includes: a first region at least partially overlapping the electrode in the lamination direction; and a second region excluding the first region. Among the plurality of different refractive index regions, only one or more of the different refractive index regions in the second region are disposed so as to contribute to forming an optical image.
