In order to ensure a good product appearance while also making it possible to detect a variety of masking materials such as those with a low reflectivity and those in sheet form, the present invention provides a sensing sensor 100 comprising a sensor unit 10 which senses a sensing target and a masking detection structure 30 which detects a masking material that disables the sensing function of the sensor unit 10, wherein: the masking detection structure 30 is provided with a light source 31 and a light receiver 32 which are accommodated in a casing 20 together with the sensor unit 10, and a light-transmitting window 33 which covers an opening 20h formed in the casing 20; and the light-transmitting window 33 has a recessed portion 40 that is recessed towards the inside of the casing, with light emitted from the light source 31 passing from the inside of the casing 20 to the outside thereof via said recessed portion 40.
