Abstract:
Disclosed is a separator for nonaqueous electrolyte batteries, which is provided with: a polyolefin microporous base that contains 10-25% by mass (inclusive) of polyolefins having a molecular weight of 100,000 or less relative to the total mass of the polyolefins; and a heat-resistant porous layer that is formed on one or both surfaces of the polyolefin microporous base and contains a heat-resistant polymer. The separator for nonaqueous electrolyte batteries has a maximum value of S that is represented by formula (1) of 0.8 or more, and the temperature showing the maximum value is 130-155˚C (inclusive). Formula (1): S = d(logR)/dT [In the formula, R represents the resistance (ohm·cm2) of a cell as determined using a battery that contains the cell, which is provided with a separator for nonaqueous electrolyte batteries, at a heating rate of 1.6˚C/min; and T represents a temperature (˚C).]
