Abstract:
The present invention provides a feature which makes it possible to achieve all of the following: suppression of heat generation during an internal short-circuit of a secondary battery, reduction of internal resistance, and high durability. A separator for a nonaqueous secondary battery according to the present invention which is equipped with a separator base material and a functional layer formed on the surface of the separator base material, wherein: the functional layer at least contains a thermally responsive material and a non-conductive material; and when the functional layer is equally separated into two layers in the thickness direction and the surface side of the functional layer is the top layer and the separator base material side of the functional layer is the bottom layer, the non-conductive material is unevenly distributed toward the top layer side.
