Title:
SEPARATOR AND OVERVOLTAGE PROTECTION DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2008/010495
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A separator satisfying the requirements of passing a lighting surge current, interrupting a follow current, interrupting short circuit, and being of a small size. An overvoltage protection device combining the separator with an overvoltage protector is also provided. The separator comprises a current transformer for detecting the current flowing through each wire, a section for rectifying a current outputted from the current transformer, a charging section being charged with a current outputted from the rectifying section, a switch section for bringing the wire into a disconnected state at the time of driving, and a trigger section for driving the switch when the charges stored in the charging section are in a predetermined drive region. The drive region is set to a region providing charges larger than the charges which can be stored in the charging section by a lighting surge current. An overvoltage protection device can be constituted by combining the separator with an overvoltage protector.
