Abstract:
The purpose of the present disclosure is to provide: a separator for power storage devices, the separator having high adhesion to an electrode and a low thermal shrinkage ratio, while being capable of improving the cycle characteristics and output characteristics of a power storage device; and a power storage device which comprises this separator for power storage devices. A separator for power storage devices according to the present disclosure comprises: a base material which is formed of a polyolefin microporous membrane that contains a polyolefin as a main component; and a cover layer which is arranged on at least one surface of the base material. The base material has a film thickness of 1 µm to 30 µm, and an air permeability of 500 sec/100 cm3 or less. The cover layer contains an inorganic filler and polymer particles of a thermoplastic polymer. Some of the polymer particles protrude from the cover layer by a length that is not less than 0.1 times the thickness of the inorganic filler portion of the cover layer. The porosity after compression as measured after compressing the base material at the temperature of 70°C and the pressure of 8 MPa for the compression time of 3 minutes is 30% or more; and/or the crystal long period of the polyolefin microporous membrane as determined by a small-angle X-ray scattering method (SAXS) is 37.0 nm or more.
