Abstract:

This separator for a solid polymer fuel cell comprises: a ferritic stainless steel that serves as a base material, that has a chemical composition in which the calculated value of {Cr content (%) + 3 × Mo content (%)} is 22.5-45.0%, and that comprises, in mass%, 0.001-0.012% of C, 0.01-0.6% of Si, 0.01-0.6% of Mn, 0.035% or less of P, 0.01% or less of S, 22.5-35.0% of Cr, 0.01-4.5% of Mo, 0.01-2.5% of Ni, 0.01-0.6% of Cu, 0.01-1.0% of Sn, 0.001-0.30% of In, 0.015% or less of N, 0.01-0.35% of V, and 0.001-0.050% of Al; and a surface modification layer containing 30% or less of O and a remainder of Sn and In. A solid polymer fuel cell provided with the separator has markedly excellent corrosion resistance in the environment within the cell.
