Abstract:
This invention relates to a serial color printer having a cassette holder (3) mounted inclinably to a carriage (2) which supports detachably an ink ribbon cassette (3) on the carriage (2) of a printing head and is capable of moving the ink ribbon at right angles to a platen (8). The ink ribbon (7) includes a plurality of color zones extending in parallel with one another in a longitudinal direction, and a color change-over suitable for a print line is made with the movement of the cassette holder (3). The cassette holder (3) is connected operatively to a tilt arrangement, and this tilt arrangement is equipped with a cam mechanism (12, 15) mounted onto the carriage (2) and a driving mechanism for driving the cam mechanism in association with the movement of the carriage (2). The home positions of the carriage (2) and cassette holder (3) are distinguished by a single position sensor and when they are placed at positions other than their home positions, an initial setting process for moving them to their respective home positions is executed.
