A servo motor controller enables reduction of the burden on a machine and stabilization of the control performance while improving the resistance to momentary power failure and instantaneous voltage drop depending on the operating condition of the machine and the motor load. The servo motor controller comprises bus voltage sensing means (4) for measuring the bus voltage and outputting a bus voltage signal, current detecting means (10) for detecting the current flowing through a servo motor (5) and outputting a current value signal, control means (9) for outputting a control signal by switching between the position control and speed control according to the bus voltage of the bus voltage signal and according to the motor axis position signal outputted by an encoder (5b), a position command, the bus voltage signal and the current value signal so as to reduce the current supplied to the servo motor (5) when the bus voltage is lower than a first set reference voltage (VS1), drive control means (6) for outputting a drive voltage according to the control signal, and a motor driving circuit (7) for outputting a predetermined current to the servo motor (5) according to the drive voltage.
