Abstract:

In the present invention, in a state where both end surfaces of a shaft member (2) are sandwiched and held by a pair of support parts (backing plate (74) and pressure plate (75)), the outer peripheral surface of the shaft member (2) is ground while the shaft member (2) is rotationally driven. On one axial-direction end surface of the shaft member (2), provided is a convex surface (2a6) having a raised inner diameter portion. The pressure plate (75) is in contact with and supports the convex surface, and an end surface (75a) of the pressure plate (75) has a flat surface. By bringing the end surface (75a) of the pressure plate (75) and the peak portion (2a7) of the convex surface (2a6) of the shaft member (2) into contact, one axial-direction end of the shaft member (2) is supported.
