Abstract:
A sheet material depletion detection mechanism that is provided with: a sheet material information part that indicates information related to a sheet material that is wound onto a core member in which a light transmission part is formed; a reading part that optically reads the sheet material information part; and a detection part that detects when the sheet material has been depleted. The sheet material has an end part that is wound onto the core member, and the sheet material information part is held at the end part at a position that corresponds to the light transmission part. During a draw-out operation in which the sheet material is drawn out, the detection part detects that there is sheet material when a reading signal that indicates that the reading part has read the sheet material information part is received and detects that the sheet material has been depleted when the reading signal is no longer received.
