Abstract:
A fault diagnosis device (5) for a shifter (8) according to the present invention is used in an automatic transmission (3) having a manual mode, wherein the shifter (8) comprises a first switch (46) for outputting a signal corresponding to the position of a selection lever (8a) and a second switch (47) for outputting a signal corresponding to the position of the selection lever (8a) if the selection lever (8a) is positioned at least in an upshift range or a downshift range, said fault diagnosis device (5) comprising: a diagnosis means (5) for diagnosing faults of the second switch (47) on the basis of the output signal from the second switch (47); and a preventing means (5) for preventing the diagnosis of faults of the second switch (47) by the diagnosis means (5) if it is determined on the basis of the output signal from the first switch (46) that the selection lever (8a) is not positioned in a forward range including the upshift range and the downshift range.
