Abstract:
Provided is a ship in which it is possible to minimze or prevent the incidence of faults in the treatment of ballast water caused by a chlorine-based sterilizing agent remaining after not being used in treating ballast water. A ship (VSL) is provided with a ballast pump (Pm) that is provided with a first driving mode in which sea water (Wo) acquired from outside the ship is circulated toward a ballast tank (T) so as to be accommodated in the ballast tank or filled thereinto, and a second driving mode in which the sea water acquired from outside the ship is circulated without being routed the ballast tank to discharge the sea water to outside the ship. The ship is further provided with a ballast water treatment device provided with: a sterilizing-agent injection opening (Is) via which, during the first driving mode, a chlorine-based sterilizing agent (As) is injected into the sea water circulated toward the ballast tank; and a remainder injection opening (Id) via which, during the second driving mode, at least a portion of the remainder (Re) of the chlorine-based sterilizing agent is injected into the sea water circulated toward the outside of the ship, the remainder (Re) of the chlorine-based sterilizing agent being what remains thereof without having been injected into the sea water during the first driving mode.
