Description:
A SHOCK-ABSORBING CENTERING MEMBER DEVELOPED FOR USE IN MOUNTING A TOILET

COVER ON THE SURFACE OF A TOILET BOWL

Subject of the Invention

The invention relates to a shock-absorbing centering member intended for use during the mounting of the toilet covers to the toilet bowl surfaces.

State of the Art

A toilet cover (3) assembly may be mounted on a toilet bowl (4) surface by fixing a hinge assembly (2), which preferably comprises at least one hinge body (2a) and a pin (2b) positioned on the hinge body (2a), to the toilet bowl (4) surface by means of said hinge body (2a) and in at least one slot on the hinge mounting body (7) on the cover (3) by means of said pin (2b).

In said mounting procedure, the centering apparatuses (6), examples of which are shown in Figure 4 and Figure 5, are used according to the state of the art for the process of centering the hinge body (2a) on the surface where the cover is to be mounted. In the state of the art, in case the similar centering apparatuses (6) are employed, the centering process, which is carried out after placing the hinge body (2a) in the mounting holes on the toilet bowl surface prior to fixing the toilet cover, increases the requirement for both labor and time. Failure to perform the centering process according to the state of the art in the desired and correct manner leads to the mounting faults and mounting difficulties. This in turn complicates the mounting of the toilet covers on the toilet bowl surfaces and results in time loss. The inability to correctly perform the centering or alignment process leads to the necessity to detach and reattach the toilet cover for several times.

Additionally, in case the toilet covers according to the state of the art do not contact at least one abutment surface (5) when fully opened during the use, this causes damage in the cover as well as the hinge assembly. In an attempt to solve this problem, the shock-absorbing members like bumpers are disposed on the cover and both the load on the cover and the load imparted by the cover on the hinge assembly are enabled to be absorbed in this way in case of absence of any surface where the toilet cover could contact when fully opened.

According to the state of the art, various members are used to perform the centering process for the hinge assembly during the mounting of the toilet covers and also to avoid damage to both the cover and the hinge assembly as a result of absence of any abutment surface on the rear face where the toilet cover could contact when fully opened, and in this way, it is attempted to prevent the difficulty experienced during the mounting and use of the toilet covers as well as to avoid the damage occurring both in the cover and the hinge assembly. However, the currently used centering members fail to provide convenience in mounting and the centering process is entrusted to the manual skill of the person carrying out said process.

In order to provide a solution to the aforesaid problems, a shock-absorbing centering member has been developed within the scope of the invention; in this way, it has been made possible, through the use of a single member, to enable the centering process for the hinge assembly to be performed easily during the mounting procedure as well as to prevent damage to the toilet covers and the hinge assembly during use.

Object of the Invention

An object of the invention is to develop a novel member for enabling the centering process to be accomplished easily during the mounting procedure of the toilet covers on the toilet bowl surfaces.

Another object of the invention is to develop a member by means of which the breakage of the cover and/or the damage to the hinge assembly is/are prevented in case the toilet covers are fully opened and they do not contact a rear surface while being fully opened.

Another object of the invention is to ensure that the accomplishment of the centering process for the hinge assembly during the mounting of the toilet covers and further, the prevention of damage to the cover as well as the hinge assembly during use are possible by means of a single member.

Detailed Description of the Invention

The invention relates to a shock-absorbing centering member intended for use during the mounting of the toilet covers to the toilet bowl surfaces.

The invention relates to a shock-absorbing centering member (1). Said shock-absorbing centering member (1) comprises at least one slot (la), which enables said shock-absorbing centering member (1) to be positioned on at least one hinge body (2a) fixed on the surface of the toilet bowl (4) and/or on the pin (2b) present on the hinge body (2a).

The toilet covers (3) are fixed on the surface of the toilet bowl (4) preferably by the use of a hinge assembly (2). The hinge assembly (2) comprises at least one hinge body (2a) preferably fixed on the surface of the toilet bowl (4) and a pin (2b), which is positioned on the hinge body (2a) and is at the same time fixed in the slot on at least one hinge mounting body (7) present on the cover (3). The shock-absorbing centering member (1) according to the invention is fixed on the surface of the toilet bowl (4) by way of being fitted on said hinge bodies (2a).

In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the shock-absorbing centering member (1) according to the invention is fixed on the surface of the toilet bowl (4) by way of being fitted on the pins (2b) present on said hinge bodies (2a).

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, said shock-absorbing centering member (1) is preferably manufactured from a soft and flexible material. The shock-absorbing centering member (1) may be made of a material including but not limited to thermoplastic elastomer, thermoplastic vulcanizate, ethylene propylene rubber, rubber or polyurethane. It is possible to obtain the shock-absorbing centering member (1) according to the invention from any material with good heat resistance and strength, featuring flexibility, elasticity and resistance to weather and ambient conditions.

In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the shock-absorbing centering member (1) is fixed on the toilet bowl (4) surface via the adhesive bonding method.

In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the shock-absorbing centering member (1) is fixed on the toilet bowl (4) surface via the mechanical mounting method.

In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the shock-absorbing centering member (1) is fixed on the hinge bodies (2a) via the tight fitting method.

Regarding the use of the shock-absorbing centering member (1), first the hinge body (2a) is fixed on the surface of the toilet bowl (4) and then the shock-absorbing centering member (1) is fitted, via the slots (la) on the same, on the hinge bodies (2a). Said procedure can be seen in Figure 2a and a view of the shock-absorbing centering member (1) on the toilet bowl (4) and the hinge bodies (2a) can be seen in Figure 2b. Afterthe placement of the shock-absorbing centering member (1) on the hinge bodies (2a), the toilet cover (S) is fixed by way of fixing the pin (2b) on the hinge body (2a) to the hinge mounting body (7) on the cover (S).

Figure S shows the shock-absorbing centering member (1) fixed on the toilet bowl (4). As can be seen in Figure S, in case the cover (S) does not contact an abutment surface (5) in the rear section when fully opened, said cover (S) will contact with the shock-absorbing centering member (1) on the hinge bodies (2a), and in this way, both the hinge assembly (2) and the cover (3) will be prevented from being damaged as a result of the impacts generated and the load imparted on the same.

Owing to the shock-absorbing centering member (1) developed within the scope of the invention, it becomes possible to easily perform the centering process for the hinge assembly (2) that enables the mounting of the toilet covers (3) on the toilet bowl (4) surfaces and further, it becomes possible to prevent damage to the cover (3) as well as the hinge assembly (2) that could result from the absence of the contact of the cover (3) with any abutment surface (5) when fully opened during the use.
