Abstract:
[Problem] To inhibit, in a short arc type discharge lamp provided with a trigger wire that is connected to the same electric potential as one electrode within a light emitting section of a light emitting tube, arranged along the outer surface of the light emitting section, and wound around a sealing section at the other electrode side, a glass member constituting the lamp including the light emitting tube from becoming cloudy due to feeding current to the trigger wire, and prevent the lamp from being damaged. [Solution] The short arc type discharge lamp is characterized in being provided with a cutoff mechanism that maintains the feeding of the current to the trigger wire when supplying high frequency pulse voltage that is to be applied upon starting the lamp, and cuts off the feeding of the current when supplying DC power for steady state lighting.
