Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a side airbag device that can improve protection performance for passengers. [Solution] A side airbag device 100 comprises a bag-shaped air bag cushion 118 that is provided on a lateral part of a seat back 106 of a seat 104 and that uses gas supplied from an inflator 120 to expand and deploy. The air bag cushion 118 has a main chamber 124B that expands and deploys on a lateral part of a seat back 112 and a first sub-chamber 126B that expands and deploys so as to project on the seat back 112 side from the main chamber 124B. The main chamber 124B includes a protrusion 166 that protrudes above the first sub-chamber 126B. The air bag cushion 118 further includes a non-expansion first sail panel 128B that is stretched over the inner angle 174 between the protrusion 166 and the first sub-chamber 126B.
