Provided is a side chain amino group-containing vinyl alcohol-based polymer which contains 0.001-10 mol% of a structural unit represented by formula (1) with respect to the total amount of structural units. A molded body, such as a film having a good hue and excellent reactivity with a crosslinking agent, as well as excellent water resistance due to the reaction with a crosslinking agent, can be obtained using the side chain amino group-containing vinyl alcohol-based polymer (in the formula (1), X represents a divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, a divalent alicyclic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, a divalent aromatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, or a group in which two or more of said groups are bonded via at least one bond selected from the group consisting of an amide bond, an ester bond, and an ether bond; R1 represents a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, an alicyclic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, an aromatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, or a structure forming a ring with X; and R2 represents a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, or a structure forming a ring with X).
