Abstract:
In a silica powder according to the present invention, the number of metallic silicon particles per 10 g of silica powder is no higher than 30 particles, and the dielectric loss tangent is no higher than 0.004. A silica powder production method according the present invention comprises a heating step for heating a silica powder in the presence of chlorine. The present invention makes it possible to provide a silica powder having a low dielectric loss tangent and a low metallic silicon content, and a production method for such a silica powder.
