WHAT IS CLAIMED IS : 1. Silk Dental Floss is produced from silk reeling process, silk doubling and silk twisted process as ; Silk reeling process is to select the good quality cocoons, steady and no abnormal cocoons and to doubling four silk fibres from 80-120 cocoons equally (4 containers, 20-30 cocoons each). Always maintain the quantity of cocoons at the same quantity. The containers are heated at 60- 70 degree Celsius. Silk doubling and twisted process is to reel the silk filament by rotate the silk doubling head at 5,000 - 6,000 rpm. The Silk Dental Floss is made from 4 raw silk filaments twisted together. 2. Silk Dental Floss according to claim 1, whereas the preferred quantity of cocoons in the container at 25 cocoons per container. |
SILK DENTAL FLOSS
RELATED INVENTIONS.
Chemical Engineering with respect to the Silk Dental Floss.
BACKGROUND OF THE RELATED ART
A lot of microorganisms are found in oral cavity, especially beneath the gumline, microorganisms are causes gingivitis. Inadequate of removing microorganisms is hazard to root. Using dental floss for oral cleaning is ' recommended apart from tooth brushing to reduce gingivitis compared to conventional brushing with toothpaste. There are many type of Dental floss such as large type, small type, waxed type, un- waxed type, normal type and ultra floss or super floss. The important is an effective dental floss and using dental floss to clean teeth properly.
Levi Spear Parmly, a dentist from New Orleans, is credited with inventing the first form of dental floss. He recommended that people should clean their teeth with silk floss in B.E. 1815 before First World War. Afterward in Second World War, Silk Dental Floss was unavailable to the consumer as silk filaments is very expensive together with the development of synthetic production technology causes silk filaments were replaced by synthetic filaments in dental floss manufacturing process.
Ancient silk filaments for dental floss originated in China was produced by industrial machinery which made good strength but the disadvantage is silk filaments are not gentle. This made particles in the adjacent surfaces of the teeth not removed properly.
The disadvantage of Synthetic filaments which use for dental floss is it's easy to create static electricity and teeth sensitivity while flossing. In addition, it may cause of gum bleeding and oral lesions while careless use. The inventor which have experiences and apparatus for silk filament manufacture found that dominant feature of silk filament from Thai native silkworm breed or Thai improved silkworm breed is toughness and gentle and may be have some different feature as different silkworm breed. There are many advantages from silk filament which is a natural protein fiber including produces a soft and tough dental floss and not create static electricity while flossing. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Silk Dental Floss according to this invention is made from silk filament from Thai native silkworm breed and traditional hand-made production as silk reeling process, silk doubling and silk twisted process for suitable size and flexibility for dental floss. An objective for regularity size and number of twist of silk filament is to produce a tough and gentle dental floss which can clean the teeth effectively and not irritating to teeth or oral hygiene and also cost reduction for dental checkup.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Silk Dental Floss according to the present invention is made from Thai native silkworm breed and processed with specific reeling machine which will be described as follows ;
SILK REELING : Selection of quality cocoons, steady and no abnormal cocoons and to doubling four silk fibres from 80-120 cocoons equally (4 containers, 20-30 cocoons each). The preferred quantity of cocoons is 25 cocoons per container and to always maintain cocoons quantity in each container at the preferred quantity. Next, heat the containers at 60-70 degree celsius to melt sericin glue in silk fibre for easy reeling. The filaments are drawn upwards and combine together to form a single silk thread. This process will get silk yarn at average 180-200 denier, modulus at 3.6 g/denier and 23% elongation which is good combination of silk fibre.
SILK DOUBLING AND SILK YARN TWISTED PROCESS : After silk combination, silk doubling and silk yarn twisted process will be done by rotate the silk doubling head at 5,000 - 6,000 rpm and reel the silk yarn on spindle to produce a uniform strand of raw silk filament. 4 raw silk filaments are required to produce Silk Dental Floss. These 4 raw silk filaments will be twisted together and steamed at 80 degree Celsius about 30 minutes. Regular Silk Dental Floss manufacturing processes are to doubling and twisting the raw silk filaments to get the preferred size and flexibility. Glue removal with natural alkaline salt. Dried it with solar cell oven and waxed for more gentle and smooth feature. Dried it with solar cell oven again, after that will be silk threading process, un-waxed the surplus waxed process and flatting silk filaments process. Further, keep the silk filaments in chiller, preparing to keep the said filament in bobbins and product container as easy to use.
PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
The present invention has been described with some preferred embodiments as described in the detailed description of the invention.
