Description:
SINGLE AXIS AUTOMATIC PRECISION MEASUREMENT SYSTEM

Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a measurement probe for determining the size information of the workpiece at the end of the machining in the CNC lathe that rotates or turns the workpiece around a certain rotation axis to form a symmetrical part or component at the end of cutting the workpiece by means of various tools.

State of the Art

Today, due to the wear on the cutting tool and to the nature of the work in lathes during the manufacturing phase, before performing the finishing process, the operators stop the machine and perform measurements with measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers and manually enter the difference into the controller as a tool offset in order to make sure that the machined workpiece is within the desired tolerances.

This manual behavior causes two factors. The first one is that the workpiece may be machined incorrectly and not reach the desired measurement values due to the operator's lack of knowledge, absent-mindedness or miscalculation of the measurement. The second one is that, since the machine has to stop and the measurement has to be made during this process, the idle time of the machine increases and time losses occur.

Figure 1 shows the manual measurement. In the stopped machine, the workpiece is measured and evaluated with a micrometer and the result is manually entered into the controller as mentioned above.

The application numbered US5334918A, which resulted from technical research, relates to a method for controlling a coordinate positioning machine for scanning a workpiece. As can be seen, the above mentioned method does not mention a configuration that can provide a solution to the disadvantages mentioned above.

As a result, due to the abovementioned disadvantages and the insufficiency of the current solutions regarding the subject matter, a development is required to be made in the relevant technical field.

Aim of the Invention

The invention aims to provide a structure having different technical features which brings a new development in this field different from the embodiments used in the state of the art.

The main aim of the present invention is to reveal a measurement probe for determining the size information of the workpiece at the end of the machining in the lathe that rotates or turns the workpiece around a certain rotation axis to form a symmetrical part or component at the end of cutting the workpiece by means of various tools.

One aim of the present invention is to enable automatic input of information directly to the controller via RF signals with very low sensitivities by measuring without any human influence.

In order to fulfill the above-mentioned aims, the invention relates to a measuring probe for determining the dimensional information of the workpiece at the end of machining on a lathe, characterized in that, it comprises the following;

• Digital comparator clock for measuring and reading the value on the workpiece,

• Communication card that allows the data read by the measurement probe to be transferred to the lathe controller,

• Communication cable for data transfer between digital controller clock and communication card.

The structural and characteristic features of the present invention will be understood clearly by the following drawings and the detailed description made with reference to these drawings and therefore the evaluation shall be made by taking these figures and the detailed description into consideration.

Figures Clarifying the Invention Figure 1 is a representative illustration of the measurement with the micrometer used in the state of the art.

Figure 2 is the perspective view of the probe which is the subject of the invention.

Figure 3 is the illustration of the use of the probe on the bench, which is the subject of the invention, on the bench.

The figures are not required to be scaled and the details which are not necessary for understanding the present invention may be neglected. Moreover, the elements that are at least substantially identical or have at least substantially identical functions are shown by the same number.

Detailed Description of the Invention

In this detailed description, the preferred embodiments of the invention are described only for clarifying the subject matter in a manner such that no limiting effect is created.

The present invention relates to a measurement probe (30) for determining the size information of the workpiece at the end of the machining in the CNC lathe that rotates or turns the workpiece around a certain rotation axis to form a symmetrical part or component at the end of cutting the workpiece by means of various tools.

The use of the measuring probe (30), which is the subject of the invention, on the lathe is shown in Figure 3. Here, the measuring probe (30) connected to the turret (10) with the help of the tool holder (20) provides the measurement of the workpiece (50) connected to the lathe chuck (40).

In the present invention, firstly, the 2D geometry of the processed workpiece (50) is extracted using machine coordinates. Then, the measuring probe (30) takes measurements on the workpiece (50) from the desired point, the Z coordinate of the machine is corrected by ensuring that these values are entered into the lathe controller as tool offset, it ensures that the finishing process, which must be final and precise, is carried out correctly.

The front housing (31) located in front of the measurement probe (30) prevents water permeability due to the water used during cutting. The rear housing (35) located at the back provides the connection with the tool holder (20).

The communication cable (32) located in the measurement probe (30) provides data transfer between the digital comparator clock (33) and the communication card (34).

The digital comparator clock (33) provides the measurement on the workpiece (50) and the reading of the value. Its sensitivity affects the system sensitivity.

The communication card (4) allows the data read by the measuring probe (30) to be transferred to the lathe controller.
