Abstract:
Provided is a sintered body including 3 to 80 volume% of cubic boron nitride particles and a binding material, wherein the binding material contains: at least one selected from the group consisting of at least one compound and solid solution thereof, said at least one compound comprising at least one of a first element selected from the group consisting of a group 4 element, a group 5 element, and a group 6 element of the periodic table, and Al, and Si, and at least one of a second element selected from the group consisting of C, N, O, and B; and at least one metallic element selected from the group consisting of Li, Ca, Na, Sr, Ba, and Be. The binding material contains 0.001 to 0.5 mass% of the metallic element in total and 0.1 to 10.0 mass% of oxygen.
