Title:
THE SKILLS HOCKEY GAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1997/027919
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This invention relates to an indoor hockey game to be played by two (2) competing players, each player manipulating a mannequin located on the playing surface. The uniqueness of my invention lies in the pivoting of the mannequin's arms and legs thus allowing freedom of movement of the mannequin and its ability to perform realistically under the control of its operator. In particular the goal scoring, or offensive mannequin is provided with independent lateral and rotational movements allowing complete freedom of offense. The mannequin has a hand control attached to the top part of the shoulders. This hand control device controls the circular pivotal horizontal and vertical movements as well as having a trigger that controls the swivel action of the shoulders. Therefore the objective of this invention is to enhance the reality of playing ice hockey.

Claim 6 A hockey game as in claims 1 and 3 wherein the defensive mannequins movements are controlled by a human player by mechanical means. Claim 7 A hockey game as in claims 1 and 3 wherein the defensive mannequins movements are controlled by a human player by electrical means. Claim 8 A mechanically operated skills hockey game as in Claim 1 wherein the goal tending mannequin is replaced by accuracy targets. Claim 9 An electrically operated skills hockey game as in Claims 1, 5, and 7 wherein the goal tending mannequin is replaced by accuracy targets.
Description:
The Skills Hockey Game

Description

Referring to FIGURE 1, there is a playing surface 60 which has painted on a red goal scoring line 69 a red goal line 68 and a blue neutral line 70. There are sides around the playing surface 62 which resemble hockey boards, a protective shield 61 to protect participants from propelled objects A lateral platform 64 that is guided by guide rails 63 also housed on platform are hand controls 65 and goal tending mannequin stabilizing bar 66, mounted atop of side boards and positioned in defensive zone is protective shield 61. Positioned at offensive end of FIGURE 1 housing unit 67 for rotating disc 35 which is a platform for the goal scoring mannequin 22. FIGURE 2 shows a bottom view of 35 rotating disc, brackets 72 hold the axle rod in place 71, in FIGURE 3 we see top view of rotating disc 35 the bolts 73 for the bracket 72 that hold the axle 71 in place. Also shown 74 a bolt for 34 in FIGURE 6 . FIGURE 4 shows the defensive goal tending mannequin 1 the deflecting biocker 2 , hockey pants as partial covering 1A. To kick at projecting objects, the pads 4 , to catch the pucks, the lifelike mannequin has a trapper 7 . Attached to the lower parts of the pads 4 are skates 8 the upper body covering is a jersey 5 this unique goal tending mannequin can divert objects with the goalie stick 3 the life like movements of this mannequin are revolutionary to table top hockey. A mask 6 completing the attire of the goal tender 1. What makes this goal tending mannequin unique is its real life like mobility movements, using pads 4 and skates 8 to kick out objects, able to deflect discs using hockey stick, 3 redirect with biocker 2 and catch pucks with trapper. 7 . This invention is able to help participants with particular motor skills, such as eye hand coordination, reflex ability, and handle the fear of projected objects. FIGURE 5 shows left arm member 9 attached to body frame 17 by means of connecting pin 11 , that is threaded with a cable 20 that runs from left leg 13 which is also attached to body frame 17 by means of connecting pin 15. Left cable control 20 runs through left cable guide 18 that runs to trigger control 76. Right leg member 14 attached to body frame 17 by means of connecting pin 16 right arm member attached to body frame 17 by means of connecting pin 12 right cable control 21 threads right leg 14 and right arm 10 and runs through right cable guide 19 to trigger control 77.

Description

As shown in FIGURE 6 the goal scoring mannequin 22 propels disc like pucks

32 toward the goal using the hockey stick 28 , attached to the top of the stick is left glove 22 A., a right glove 23 is attached to the lower part, the mid section of the mannequin is equipped with hockey pants 31 . Upper parts has a jersey 30, left leg and right leg have sock coverings 24, 25. The mannequin is mounted on a rotating disc 35 using a support post 34 , on the head is a helmet 29 . A left leg skate 26 and the right leg 27. A hand control device 33 is used to , operate the mannequin 22 . Now as shown in FIGURE 7&8 the back part of the mannequin leg support member 36 used to house leg members 39. To join the left arm member 41 and right arm member 42 that are housed in the arm support member 40 is mid body bolt 38 that runs through the mid body member 43 and is connected by a mid body bolt fastener 47 . A hand control support bracket 37 is used to connect the hand control chassis 44 to the leg support member 36 using bolts 45 and 46 . An important part of the swivel action is the arm swivel bracket 40A, this is connected to the hand control 33 using a connecting bolt 59. When the trigger on the hand control

33 is pulled this activates the lever 56 to activate the arm swivel bracket 40A in return activating hockey stick 28 as shown in FIGURE 6 to make contact with pucks 32. Goal scoring mannequin is a unique member 22 of this invention, participant is able to project disc like pucks 32 with pin point accuracy to any part of the goal 75. For example the goal scoring mannequin maybe set up to shoot for lower corner but a quick movement in a split second, may shoot for the top corner or anywhere else offensive participant desires, the mannequin to shoot. This quick movement will pressure defensive participant to react with rapier like speed in defending goalie net 75 with goal tending mannequin 1 . FIGURE 9 shows hand control mechanism 33 made up of many parts, a chassis 44 that houses a handle 48 connected to the chassis 44 with rivets 50 . Rivets are also used 51 for trigger placement 49 . The trigger also has a housing 52 for cable 58 . It runs from lever 56 to trigger 49 , lever has a cable housing 57 there are locks for cable 53 . There are cable guides 54A & 54B mounted in the chassis 44 to guide cable 58.

Description

Trigger is pulled 49 to activate lever 56 , activating hockey stick 28 , reset springs 55A and 55B are then activated to reset mechanism . Bracket bolt 45 is used to connect hand control 33 to bracket 37 . FIGURE 10 shows lateral platform 64 mounted on guide rails 63 that allow platform to maneuver , hand controls 65 as shown in FIGURE 1 with triggers 76 and 77 house control cable 20 and 21 . The left side of control cable 20 being connected to left trigger control 76 , right side control cable 21 connects to right trigger control 77. Goal tending mannequin 1 shown in FIGURE 4 and 5 mounted on stabilizing bar 66 and a goalie net 75. Illustrated in FIGURE 11 the goalie net 75 is able to fold down having hinges 78 attached to goal post. This allows participant to snap out lateral platform that houses goal tending mannequin 1 and replace with accuracy targets 79 . Target holders are clamped to goal post for accuracy competition. Playing surface 60 .

Whereas there have been described and shown a preferred embodiment it is also to be made clear and understood that other various modifications and adaptations are able to be made within the scope and spirit of this invention.
