The present invention relates to a slot machine comprising a vertical play field which forms a plane of movement for coins and similar flat rolling tokens or - balls,and is of the type described in the introduction to claim 1.
An example of a known slot machine is described in patent application no. WO 82/04340.In this known slot machine coins or tokens are continuously circulated on the play field whilst stake coins are inserted into a seperate circulating path connected with the pay-out mechanism.The play coins of uniform type according to the known technique are not neccessarily of the same type as the stake coins,although this will normally be the case..
It is an object of the present invention that the attention of the player is drawn to a special play coin,play token or ball which approaches the hitting mechanism and thereby gives an oppor¬ tunity for an extra prize,or an extra hit chance etc.This result is acheived by a slot machine corresponding to the invention.which is characterized by the details in the following claim. The invention is described in more detail as follows with reference to the included drawing which shows a front view of a slot machine or the same category as the invented device.
The slot machine shown in the drawing comprises a box shaped frame with a front made of glass or other transparent material. In- side the frame is fastened a flat vertical play field 1 which forms a plane of movement for play coins,tokens or balls 2.The play field is fitted with several prize sensors 3 which are placed in the plane of movement of the play coins,tokens or balls.Positioned in the same plane as the play field 1 is a hitting device 4 which is used by the player to move the play coins,tokens or balls past the prize sensors 3. In addition an input device 5 is provided for insertion of several predetermined values of stake coins.
A closed circulating path 7 for play coins,tokens or - balls is
formed in the plane of movement of the play field 1,the said path passing through the hitting device 4.
The input device 5 for stake coins is connected to the pay out mechanism 6 by means of a seperate circulating path behind the play field 1.
One or more of the play coins,tokens or balls 8 which circu¬ late visibly behind the transparent front but in the closed path 7 differ from the other standard types 2 either by difference in material,colour,perforation,marking or deformation. The player,because of the difference in appearance,can deter¬ mine the position of the non standard play coins,tokens or balls 8 and because of this be encouraged to continue playing.When a non standard play coin,token or - ball 8 passes a fixed electronic/op¬ tical or mechanical sensor 9 this will be registered by the machines control system.
When the play coin,token or ball 8 reaches the hitting device 4,the machines control -system will give the player a known advantage in comparison with the prizes normally available with the standard play coins,tokens or balls 2,eg. maximum prize on one or more of the prize sensors 3.
