Abstract:
A small-diameter optical fiber, comprising: a bare optical fiber; a coating layer (5, 6) covering the outer layer of the bare optical fiber. The bare optical fiber comprises: a core layer (1); an optical cladding (2) covering the surface of the core layer (1); a recessed layer (3) covering the surface of the optical cladding (2); and an outer cladding (4) covering the surface of the recessed layer (3), wherein the relative refractive index difference of the optical cladding (2) gradually changes from inside to outside, and a gradual change range is +0.05% to -0.10%. By designing a cross-section structure of a preform, the optical cladding (2) in the cross-section of the preform is designed in a gradual change manner, so that an MFD value of the optical fiber is improved and is close to or equal to that of a standard optical fiber. Furthermore, due to the gradient structure design of the recessed layer (3), the cut-off wavelength of the optical fiber can be controlled while the macro-bending requirement of the optical fiber is met, and the optical fiber transmission requirement is met. Further provided is a preparation method for the small-diameter optical fiber.
