Abstract:
Provided is a smartphone-compatible contactless IC card with a fingerprint authentication function that allows a smartphone with a built-in contactless IC card reader to recognize successful fingerprint authentication. This IC card is provided with: a fingerprint sensor; a fingerprint authentication section; a memory that stores verification fingerprint data; a coil that receives power from a contactless IC card reader; and a first NFC chip that has a function for NFC communication with the contactless IC card reader. The fingerprint authentication section compares fingerprint data read by the fingerprint sensor with the verification fingerprint data stored in the memory. If the fingerprints are verified to match, the IC chip notifies the contactless IC card reader via NFC communication. A second NFC chip is recognized through an initial NFC communication response so that power is continuously supplied from the contactless IC card reader to the coil.
