Title:
SNACK BAG ORGANIZER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/019171
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The snack bag organizer includes a planar support surface (14) adapted to be attached on the front or rear face of a pantry door or the like. An array of bars (18) is positioned on the front face of the planar surface. Each bar is hinged (20) at one end to the planar surface. Each bar retains at least one bag (B) containing snacks against the planar surface. A respective latch (22) is spaced from the hinge and is positioned to retain the free end of the bar. The snack bags are disposed in an overlapping configuration for orderliness and easy access. When closed, the bar functions to hold the snack bag against the planar surface in a manner to seal the bag, thereby preserving freshness of the remaining contents in the bag.

Description:
SNACK BAG ORGANIZER

TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention generally relates to storage and display devices, and particularly to a snack bag organizer that holds and supports a plurality of bags filled with snacks, displaying the bags on a pantry door or the like in such a manner that the snack bags can be quickly and easily removed and replaced.

BACKGROUND ART

In many households, finger foods, such as chips, peanuts, pretzels, etc., are stored in bags for access by family members when the need for a quick snack arises. Unfortunately, the array of snack bags creates quite a clutter on countertops, shelves or in cabinet drawers. Furthermore, it is often difficult to reseal a bag after the snack has been extracted therefrom, resulting in a loss of freshness that often requires that the remainder of the snack be discarded. A device that would allow the snack bags to be stored in an orderly fashion while freeing countertop, drawer and/or shelf space would certainly be a welcome addition in most homes (or offices). A storage device that would also permit the snack bag to be easily resealed in order to retain freshness would be twice as welcome. Thus, a snack bag organizer solving the aforementioned problems is desired.

DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION

The snack bag organizer comprises a plate member that can be supported on the front or rear face of a pantry door or the like. An array of bars is positioned on the front face of the plate member. Each bar is hinged at one end to the plate member. Each bar retains at least one bag containing snacks against the plate member. A respective latch is spaced from the hinge and is positioned to retain the free end of the bar. The snack bags are disposed in an overlapping configuration for orderliness and easy access. When closed, the bar holds the snack bag against the plate member in a manner that seals the bag, thereby preserving freshness of the remaining contents in the bag. It should be noted that the device can be utilized to support other bagged objects, if desired. Accordingly, the snack bag organizer presents a device that permits an array of snack bags to be stored in an orderly manner without cluttering countertop and drawer space. The device allows quick and easy access to a particular snack bag and permits the bag to be resealed to preserve the freshness of its contents. The invention provides for improved elements thereof in an arrangement for the purposes described that are inexpensive, dependable and fully effective in accomplishing their intended purposes.

These and other features of the present invention will become readily apparent upon further review of the following specification and drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Fig. 1 is an environmental, perspective view of a snack bag organizer according to the present invention.

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a snack bag organizer according to the present invention.

Fig. 3 is a side view of a snack bag organizer according to the present invention.

Similar reference characters denote corresponding features consistently throughout the attached drawings.

BEST MODES FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

Attention is directed to Figs. 1-3 wherein the snack bag organizer is generally indicated at 10. The organizer comprises a plate member 12 having a planar front surface 14 and a planar rear surface 16. Member 12 may be fabricated from almost any fairly rigid, suitable material (metal, wood, plastic, etc.). Although configured as a rectangle in the drawings, member 12 may have any desired shape. An array of support bars 18 is mounted on front surface 14 of member 12. The number of bars 18 may vary according to the dimensions of member 12. Each bar 18 is provided with a rubberized surface. Each bar 18 is pivotally attached to member 12 at one end with a hinge connection 20. The other end of each bar 18 is removably retained in a respective latch 22. Latches 22 may also be provided with rubberized surfaces. This support arrangement allows a bar 18 to easily swing open to remove a desired snack bag B from the device. After the desired snack is extracted, the bag top is placed behind the bar 18 and the free end of the bar 18 is snapped into the latch 22. The rubberized bar surface functions to seal the bag B against the planar surface 14. Hanger brackets 24 are mounted to the rear surface 16 to allow the device to be mounted to a pantry door, wall, or the like. The surfaces of the bars and latches insure tight fits and quiet operation.

It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described above, but encompasses any and all embodiments within the scope of the following claims.
